Why So Long?
1. Our Dossier and Acceptance Papers are sent to the Agency staff at Ho Chi Minn City. After they receive the dossier, they send it off for translation. This can take 1-4 weeks. - Done 2. After the dossier has completed the translation process, our dossier and acceptance papers are then sent to the International Adoption Department (IAD) in Hanoi. After the IAD has received these papers, the Agency staff will follow up to make sure all documents and translations are satifactory, then a login date is set. - Done LID 12/25/2006 3. After the IAD has set a log-in date, they will send a letter to the child's province requesting that the Local Justice Department being compling Dylan's legal documents (his dossier) It can take about a week for the letter to be received by the Local Justice Department. The process for compiling a child's dossier can take 30-40 business days or longer. - Done 3/12/2007 4. After the child's dossier has been compiled, then the Local Justice Department will forward Dylan's dossier to the IAD in Hanoi. Once the IAD receives Dylan's dossier, they will review his and our dossier.-Done 3/26/2007. After they have completed the review process of both dossiers, they will then forward both back to Dylan's Local Justice Department in his province. 5. After the Local Justice Department receives our dossier and Dylan's dossier, a review of the dossiers will be completed. - Reviewing as of 3/28/2007 Once the review process is complete, the Local Justice Department will then forward both dossier's to the People's Committee. the People's Committee will review the dossiers. Once they are satisfied with all dossier docs, they will then set a date for the Giving and Receiving Ceremony.-DONE!!!! 4/24/2007 6. We should have approx two weeks notice before we travel.

This was just the information that I needed! My husband and I have been thinking about adopting for a while now. We were curious about the average timeline we should expect during the process. I will have to show this to my husband. Next, we need to start looking at adoption agencies.
